Dr Jason Wong
Clinical Psychologist
Dr Jason Wong is a Registered Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). He holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College London (UCL). He is also a Fellow in Thanatology with the Association for Death Education and Counselling (ADEC, USA), and a Registered Social Worker in Hong Kong. He completed a Master of Social Work with Distinction at the University of Hong Kong and is also a Certified NLP Practitioner.
Jason works from an integrative therapeutic framework, drawing primarily on evidence-based psychological models. His practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), alongside Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. He also incorporates relational, meaning-centred, family, and systemic approaches where clinically appropriate. This integrative stance allows him to tailor therapy to each individual’s needs, values, and life context, rather than applying a single model rigidly.
With over ten years of clinical experience across local and international mental health services, Jason has worked with children, adults, and older people from diverse cultural and social backgrounds. He has practised within charity organisations, community services, healthcare settings, and government sectors, providing psychological assessment and intervention for individuals presenting with a wide range of emotional, relational, and adjustment-related difficulties.
Jason has particular interests and expertise in working with physical health issues, dementia care, end-of-life care, and bereavement. His work often focuses on supporting individuals in their psychological adjustment to physical illness, loss, trauma, and major life transitions.
In his work with clients, Jason adopts a person-centred and humanistic stance, viewing therapy as a collaborative and respectful partnership. He aims to provide a therapeutic space that is warm, calm, and emotionally safe, while gently supporting clients to reflect on their experiences with greater clarity and compassion. He believes that meaningful change arises not only from symptom management, but from deeper self-understanding, value-based living, and the restoration of a sense of agency and meaning. His practice is grounded in professional integrity, reflective practice, and a commitment to supporting individuals in navigating life with greater resilience and authenticity.
