Counselling Psychologist
Siobhan is a highly skilled Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). Siobhan completed an MA in Psychology at the University of Aberdeen, an MSc in Mental Health Studies at Kings College London, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling Skills (level 5) from York St John University, and a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at York St. John University.
Siobhan uses a range of therapeutic models, including Humanistic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Relational Therapy.
She has experience working with a range of presenting mental health difficulties, including but not limited to self-esteem, relational issues, trauma, emotional regulation, anxiety, OCD, depression, PTSD and more. Some of Siobhan’s special interests include trauma, attachment/relational difficulties, sexual assault and harassment, and anxiety.
Alongside private practice, Siobhan works in the NHS. She worked within the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) for adults and older adults, and she currently works with NHS staff members. She has previously worked with staff members also from other private organizations to help them build on their individual strengths and skills to promote wellbeing.
Siobhan works with adults and supports clients to collaboratively understand how their past may be holding them back, to help them live happier lives. She believes that the client is the only expert on how they feel and their experience, as everyone’s experience and situation are unique to them, and what may work for one may not work for another. For this reason, she draws on a range of different models to collaboratively tailor the therapy to the client’s specific needs.
Siobhan is compassionate, non-judgmental and empathic, providing a confidential and safe environment for her clients. She sees her role as to help you find answers rather than give them.
Siobhan accumulated years of expertise and knowledge in providing high-quality psychological therapy for a large variety of psychological difficulties, including but not limited to:
