Dr Tia Urgasova
Clinical Psychologist
Dr Tia Urgasova is a HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist. She holds a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Clinical Mental Health Sciences from University College London (UCL), and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy) from Royal Holloway, University of London.
Her therapeutic work is integrative and evidence-based. She draws from a range of psychological approaches depending on the needs of each individual, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based approaches. Her work is also informed by narrative and systemic perspectives, recognising how personal experiences, relationships, and wider social contexts shape psychological wellbeing.
Tia has 8 years of clinical experience working within NHS mental health services across a range of clinical settings. She has supported individuals experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related difficulties (PTSD and complex PTSD), obsessive-compulsive difficulties, phobias, panic, bipolar disorder, psychosis, relationship difficulties, narcissistic abuse, and emotional regulation challenges. She has experience working across the lifespan, from perinatal and children’s services through to older adult services, although she primarily works with working-age adults.
Tia has a particular interest in understanding how early life experiences, trauma, and relational dynamics shape patterns in thoughts, emotions, and relationships over time. She aims to create a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental therapeutic space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences. Her work focuses on helping individuals develop a compassionate and safe relationship with their emotional and bodily experiences, while building a deeper understanding of the patterns that may be maintaining their current difficulties.
Tia’s approach focuses on both the current difficulties and the underlying experiences or patterns that may have contributed to them. This approach supports not only relief from current challenges, but also deeper, longer-term change, helping clients feel more grounded, connected, and able to live in line with their values.
